Art Therapy Groups

I work with groups in an 8 to 10-week program I’ve designed for participants to reflect on and explore their relationship to 7 areas of life that are essential for experiencing overall well-being.

It is crucial for participants in a group environment to feel safe to learn and integrate skills for self-reflection, self-regulation, self-expression, autonomy and agency. Together we create an experience that provides the necessary support for social and emotional connection, creative expression and integrating skills to discern and make fulfilling life choices.

The purpose of this program is to equip participants with skills and strategies to manage stress, form adaptive coping mechanisms and reduce the onset and chronicity of depression and anxietyThe program provides participants with scaffolded learning to experience and develop skills in self-reflection, self-regulation, mindfulness, imagery re-scripting & enhancing positive mental imagery.

Participants work with materials to reflect on the things that influence their daily experiences, thoughts and behaviours.

Some of these elements are from Johann Hari’s book, Lost Connections. I read this book when I was struggling with depression in 2019. From reading Johann’s book, I recognised that multiple areas of my life were an absolute dumpster fire & if I attended to these, my mental health and my life would improve.

So I did, (over some time) and I can 100% vouch for the efficacy of this work in alleviating feelings of depression and symptoms of feeling like aspects of your life resemble a dumpster fire! (I have Johann’s written permission to use his work in this program.)

If you have any questions about the program or working as a group, contact me and we can have a chat.
